Focus DIY 3 for 2 Refunds

Hi,

Can anyone advise me of my rights?

I went to Focus DIY store yesterday and bought 6 packs of loft insulation. We asked the price and were told they were £13.99 each, the advisor even pointed out the tiny white sticker on the wall nearby to prove it! Bought them for £87.96.

Today, I went back and asked for a refund for 2 of them (boought too many!!!).

The lady went to ask her supervisor who came back and said, they were sold as 2 for the price of 3. Therefore you are trying to return the 2 "free" rolls, so I'm not entitled to any refund!

I checked the till receipt and saw that it said:

Insulation Qty 6 (unit price 21.99) 131.94
Multiby 3 for 2 -43.98
(discount 7.33)

Total 87.96

I asked, could she not divide the total by 6 and refund 2/6ths and she said no, we would get no money back???????

Can she do this????

I said I would come back with 3 rolls to refund and that way she would have to refund be half the money. She agreed to do this.

Just thought this seemed odd and wanted advice because I really want 4 rolls, but not enough to sacrifice getting some money back.

Thanks for any advice

If you take 2 back on a 3 for 2 offer, you should be entitled to a refund on 1 roll (but need to take 2) as effectively you would have bought one of the offers (3 for 2) + 1 single roll.

With regard to the pricing problem , find the person who said it was that price! Is the label still there? If so, state your case calmly to the duty manager. If you don't get anywhere - leave and write a letter of complaint to head office. A Focus store loses 'brownie points' for any complaint letter that is justified ;).
