Have I got this right?

I plan to keep my BT line rental 11.50 theyve offered me BB for 13.49 use Primus Saver Max 5.99 (free landline calls anytime?).

Currently BT charge me 60 per month all in. (option2)

Did I read somewhere that each call I make on Primus has a call set up charge?? or did I imagine it???

Anyone on Primus Saver Max??? Opinions please

OR Should I buy a Skype phone and pay 1.99??? a month Is that the correct charge for free lanline calls???

I'd conjecture that £60 is your quarterly BT bill, not what they charge you monthly.

Primus doesn't have a call set-up/connection charge. They have minimum call charges instead.
A £0.07 minimum call charge is applied for calls to UK mobiles. For all non-inclusive calls there is a minimum call charge of £0.04.
Of course, their rates for calls to mobiles are easily beaten by 18185 anyway.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

No Heinz my quarterly bill latest is 175 pounds. I am on option2 BB is currently 22 pounds per month. they were charging me nearly 80 pounds per month for BB, Calls, option 2 and line rental. having cancelled the DD I have just got a bill for 175 as above

In my post, that is what I will be paying If I chose this route.

Btw if I have BT line rental, primus saver option 3 @5.99 per month can I still use 18185 on top for mobile calls??

Many thanks for your time heinz

You could get BT online billing 11.25p a month from 1/4/09 and use BT,s 24/7 inclusive geographical call package (Which includes 0845/0870 calls) Primus doesnt. £5.95 a month from 1/4/09 or £4.95 a month if you take a 12 month rolling contract.

Do you actually make a lot of peak geographical calls would BT,s free evening and weekend call package not suffice, bearing in mind that you could make approx 27 peak geographical calls a week for £5.99 if you used 18185 for your peak calls, and you would not pay if you didnt use them.

Yes you can use 18185 in conjunction with your BT line.

Yes, you'd still be able to use 18185 but, as billsavings points out, opting for Primus Saver Max would not be a money-saver with BT's equivalent (their Unlimited Anytime Plan) now being cheaper and better.

Bearing that in mind, please click on the HERE link in my signature below nevertheless.
