my insurance is messed up!

hi all hoping one of you lot can get your head around this and advise me the best option:D

I was insured on my old puma and recieved my renewal notice through, called them up and said i wanted to check price as it came up on internet cheeper than she was quoting me even though same company. I was told that was ok and i had basically 1 free week if i was renewing with them, which i was so left it as i would call back the week after to set it up! Wrote my car off on the way home!!!!!BRILLIANT!!
To cut a long story short the insurance said that if i didnt renew my insurance wiith them they wouldnt honour the weeks free meaning i had no insurance at the time of the accident, after months they realised that i couldnt renew my insurance on a car which they had just written off and towed away and i couldnt buy a new car untill i got my check through
. To put it in english....they wanted me to give them £1700 for a new years policy for them to give me a check for £900 for my car and then they cancel the policy as its deemed to have done its job and then i have to shell out for a new car and a new policy:confused::confused::confused::confused::rotfl:
Waited ages for claims handler to sent forms through, was told that i would have to renew the insurance when i got the check and new car and pay the deposit on it and they would then refund me this backl and pay the rest of the premium for me, basically meaning that it had worked out ok and the new policy wouldnt be cancelled. :D It was sorted apart from the check arriving , i kept having to nag the claims handler who admitted it was his fault he didnt transfere the check or something to a different department and that why i kept getting letters saying i owed money, but i didnt !I added my partner on to my policy and everything was ok, i had initially had to set up a DD for monthly payment until the check arrived to clear the account, no payment was taken and was told partners insurance would be added onto that DD
Phoned claims handler woundering why on earth i had another letter saying payment owed!! ignore it its an error your account is clear and up to date miss shaw, cancel the DD then you are not at risk of us taking money wrongly:mad::mad:, rah rah rah this went on for about 2 months! i asked him for it in writting but it must have got lost in the post 3 x:T
In all of this confusion i had forgotton that my partners DD should be taken out as i was told on several recorded telephone call that i owed not a penny..
Now the siruation is 6 months into my policy i have been told that i owe over £300 on my account but they dont know where from  and the claims handler said that it was his fault and something had to have gone wrong!
Now hes saying its for partners insurance!!! i now know that it is for that but am extreamly annoyed as i now dont have the same opportunty as every other customer, which would have been to pay the amout in full there and then, the premium in about 170 and the rest to make it to 300 is interest for paying DD:eek:im annoyed because now i dont have the full premium set to one side and only have 6 months to settle a debt instead of 12
please tell me can anyone see my point of view??
