Double sided sticky tape? I think you can buy anti slip pads, but not sure how much they would be.
  • This isn't a cheap idea at all,but we used the made-for-the-purpose stuff from Allied Carpet,it cost £30  but it really works. It is an underlay that feels tacky to the touch. We were given a rug for Christmas and without this underlay stuff it was just plain dangerous,dd nearly went crashing into the TV.

Heard a tip once for stopping rugs slipping on tiles by glueing rubber on the back. I assume that the same would work for laminate.
Not sure what you could cannabalise to do this though; cheap bath mat perhaps?- could this be a new use for all those rubber bands that the postmen drop? :rotfl:

I got some stuff from poundland (yes, for £1!!!) that stops things sliding about eg on shelves etc. It was quite a long roll. I have used it for lots of things, including putting a square of it on a dining chair to stop our 20 month old granddaughter from sliding off of a cushion! It would be fine for putting under a rug (maybe tacking some pieces onto the bottom of the rug) to stop it slipping about.

IKEA used to do rubber underlay stuff, so maybe have a look on their website. It was like a rubber net which you just cut to size and put under the rug. No problems about lifting the rug for cleaning, the underlay stuff didn't mark the floor and was very stable underfood. It was v.cheap, just a couple or so pounds for a 6' rug size piece...sorry, don't have a catalogue and there isn't an IKEA this side of the Irish Sea otherwise I'd know for sure if is still available - used to live in England, so that's how I know of this stuff.

Our postie doesn't drop rubber bands, but this morning we found out just what he does do with them, as we watched him very neatly tidying it into our green (garden waste) recycling wheely bin!
  • aldi are currently selling some non slip underlay stuff for £1.99 - we just got some for exactly the same purpose! Works fine. Is a big piece that you can cut to size.

I got a big roll of this from poundland as well (in pretty purple) it works fine under rugs. I also use it to stop the cats bowls from being pulled around the kitchen
