Employed and work from home, house and content insurance?

Anyone got any advice on tracking down an insurer that will do a fairly no frills house and contents package for someone who has a full time job but also has a (very) small craft and writing business done from home? I'm struggling to find any that don't throw up their hands in horror when you say you do more than just clerical work from home, but its nothing scary, just knitting mostly! The house is only worth £40k, we only need common sense contents insurance, and if any of the self employent stuff ever did need claiming on we are talking generally very low value items. There has to be someone out there able to accept that these days lots of poeple make their living at more than one thing

A standard home insurance normally excludes any items used in connection with a business, some will cover items used for a clerical business eg computer etc.

Have a word with a local broker as there are a lot of Insurers who have policies which are a combination of a home insurance and a business insurance. I quite like the Allianz (Cornhill) Home worker policy.

Be aware that if you do not inform your Insurers you run a business from home they can sometimes refuse to pay claims or restrict your cover, especially if you have visitors to your home in connection with your business
