Painful wobbly tooth?

My son is 8 and has already lost 8 teeth with no problems at all. He has had his 9th wobbly tooth for about a month now and it's reasonably wobbly but not 'pullable' IYKWIM.
He is crying in pain saying that it hurts so much. Have given him some Calpol and he's sitting here with one of those Mr Men gel packs you keep in the freezer.
Is it normal to have this much pain with a wobbly tooth? He's not been bothered with any of his other wobblers and my eldest never seemed to have any pain when loosing a baby tooth!

It may be his Gums that are the problem more then the tooth itself. If he's still in pain by Monday take him to the Dentist.0

My son is 10 and has lost all but one of his baby teeth. The last one he lost was on Boxing Day and was in immense pain with it before it actually came out, so your son is not alone but I know that won't make him feel better, poor thing.
If it makes a difference, it was his bottom tooth, about 3rd of 4th one in that caused him the problems.0 -

That's the one - bottom tooth - 3rd one in!!
Am hoping it will come out soon or I'm going to start taking the Calpol to help the earache!!
Seriously though - if it's still hurting on Monday I'll give the dentist a call.xxx Nikki xxx0 -
On Thursday night, my youngest (10) came downstairs crying with his wobbly tooth hurting.
Normally with that one, I don't usually have a problem with wobbly teeth, as he gets them out as soon as they're even remotely wobbly. (unlike eldest who was a complete wuss!!)
Anyway, closer inspection showed it to be hanging on by hardly anything.
But of tissue paper, well directed tug, and he was happy again and planning what he'd do with the £1!!
Wobbly teeth can sometimes get tender if it's akward to clean around them and plaque builds up, but my bet is that it's a lot wobblier than it seems. How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -
You might find that it has developed an absess. Don't forget that it is ok to give kids ibuprofen in combination with paracetamol. For toothache ibuprofen works better. But check with your pharmacist as well.0
