Car Insurance for my mother when father no longer has license

Hi
My father who is 79 has lost his driving this year license due to a medical disability. My mother would like to renew the insurance which is currently in his name. What is the best way to go about this? The car is also still in his name.
Over the past 50 years she has been a named driver on the insurance policy. If she were to take out an insurance policy in her name would she lose the no claims bonus accrued on my father’s policy.
Any help would be appreciated.

Most Insurers will in these cirumstances transfer the policy into your mothers name or at the least cancel the policy and start a new policy in your mothers name and transfer the no claims bonus other to your mother.
They will normally just require a letter from your father authorising this.
If they say they can't do the above ask for a superviser who will be more experienced and if you still have no joy post up here.
With regards to the car being regsitered in your fathers name its not normally a problem as they are married as the log book shows the registered keeper which is not neccessary the actual owner. Just advise the Insurer and they will advise you whether they want the log book changed into your mothers name0
