RAC Rant!

So, I'm a member or the RAC, cover for my vehicle only. My wife has RAC roadside assistance but today the Golf decided to security lock itself with her keys inside! (on the driveway).
RAC refused to help despite us both being members. We were offered an 'at home' upgrade fo £80.
With no previous calls on their services I expected a bit of customer care....but no luck! I understang their patrols can unlock cars in a few seconds with a universal key fob and we've all seen them sat waiting for a call on the roadside!
What was disappointing was being told by the smart alec on the phone was that we wern't members,:mad: we merely had an insurance against breakdowns that didn't cover us at home. Funny how they write asking you to renew your membership!
Don't get me wrong, they were acting strictly in accordance with the book, but I felt an opportunity for some goodwill was missed.
Have now smashed a glass to get in!

whilst i sympathise with your dilemma i have to agree with the RAC sticking to the book, if everyone had basic cover and expected a goodwill gesture then they would never make money!
would you not have been better paying the £80 for an upgrade rather that the mess , hassle and cost of breaking window?would love to win an ipad!

Does anyone have a spare set of keys to the Golf?
I read on one of the MSE boards about how to open a car where the keys had been locked inside over a mobile phone using the spare set.
Have to agree with the RAC though ....2014 Target;
