    Hi Andy

In our en-suite we've had a mist coat (80/20) with Gliddens Contract Matt White, then a second coat of Gliddens (not sure if he watered that coat down) then one coat of Johnstones Bathroom Paint (can't get Dulux here in town). It will be getting a second coat of the bathroom paint as it got a bit knocked when the shower cubicle went it as a bit tight on height - the ceiling is only a couple of inches higher than the shower cubicle.

The bathroom ceiling has had the same two coats of Gliddens, awaiting the bathroom paint now and there's a shower cubicle in there too (with more head height though).

When we do decoration work for customers in there bathrooms it recieves

2 coats of 50/50 white matt base coats, approx 6 hours between coats, always a good quality dulux paint

2 coats of dulux bathroom paint(or endurance if bought from dulux trade centre) 24hrs between coats

We have never had any problems with paint flaking etc

I agree with TomsMom :D about putting the contract on first, then your bathroom paint.

Whatever you do, dont apply bathroom paint, or silk, or softsheen on new plastered walls, always do a mistoat, or even two when your using bathroom paint.
Once you have mistcoated, then you can put on whatever you want.

When I mistcoat, I have it Quite thin, it wont do it any harm, 70/30, or 60/40, if you do decide to do a second mistcoat, then have the paint slightly thicker.

Do the job right Andrew, dont cut corners, as you will have problems.

Follow the matt miscoat route, then your bathroom paint, and you wont have any problems.

Andrew my comment came out wrong, sorry, what I meant to say was, use the right paint for your new plaster, as you have spent a small fortune on getting it done, so dont skimp with the paint choices:D .

I can tell you how much Gliddens is, as I use it all the time, you dont need to set up an account at any dulux decorating centre, they take cash, plus you get a small discount for cash.

A 10 ltr tub of gliddens contract, including VAT will cost approx £15-16, and its so thick it will go a long way.

You have to thin this paint down anyway, as it is very thick, but whatever you dont use, you can keep and always use as a base coat in other rooms.

I swear by gliddens, and there a few posters on here who use it now, and swear by it also, and its made by Dulux anyway, but a hell of a lot cheaper.:D

Mine were about that price from the Oswestry Dulux Dec Centre. Also you can get Nectar points.

For new plaster, either use the cheap value emulsion, or even better, some PVA to seal the plaster, then you can use any paint on it.

I dont think using PVA is recommended by anyone for this job. Used watered down emulsion but avoid the likes of B&Q value stuff.
