in Credit cards
Hi,
I just tried to find out my credit rating on https://www.Experian.co.uk and they rejected my request. They then said I had to send them two pieces of identification to prove my address and identity. I moved to a new address in october and I am on the electrol role and everything.
I have been trying to sign up to a cash back credit card and have got rejected a couple of times. Is this all to do with having moved recently or is there something more sinister going on?
I do have my current account registered at my parents address as I am likely to move again soon so is this conflict of address infomation the cause for my problems?
My credit history should be fine as I have never had a credit card and have been with the same bank for years, with no outstanding loans or re-payments.
Any help/advice would be great.

I don't think the request for more details will have anything to do with what is actually on your file as regards to credit history.
I imagine it's all to do with the fact that you have moved recently and that your bank account is registered to a different address than the one you live at.
Don't worry about it. Send them in what they ask for, and I'm sure everything will be fine.:money: = LEGEND0 -
Yes, I think frequent changes of addresses are likely to be the cause
problems.
Experian are only taking care of your personal information (you wouldn't want them giving it to anyone would you).My credit history should be fine as I have never had a credit card and have been with the same bank for years, with no outstanding loans or re-payments.
You seem to think this is good. I think it's bad.
There is no record of you having credit and managing it succesfully.
Your best bet is to get a credit card from your current bank (they are most likely to give you one as they have records about you).
Manage it sucessfully for 6 months i.e. pay it off on time, and then you should be more successful in getting credit as you will actually have some sort of record of managing credit.0 -

The fact that you have never had a credit card and you moved recently will have a negative effect on your appliactions regardless of whether you have outstanding loans / repayments or not.
The c/card companies have no past payment history to base their decision on which will be a factor. As Lisyloo suggested try your own bank first. They are more likely to approve you.0 -
That's right. We do have a duty of care regarding the personal information we hold and occasionally have to ask for proofs of name and adress before sending a report out. We aren't rejecting your request for information, simply ensuring it doesn't fall into the wrong hands. Any original documents you send in will be returned to you, along with your report.“Official Company Representative
