We're planning on stopping with relations for about 3 weeks, and wondered if anyone had any tips/advise with regards to Uk Flights to/from OZ, and the cost of car hire whilst abroad?

any help grateful!

Check with STA about flights - if you are under 26 you get them cheaper, if you are a student they are cheaper still. But their normal deals are good too.

Whose STA? we are 27 n 35 (little baby is 1)
  • My family and I (2 adults 4 daughters) are regular visitors to Melbourne (going again in 2 weeks time for Commonwealth Games) and planning on visiting Sydney for the first time.

Good starter for searching things to do/visit.

As you are travelling with a 1 year old you will qualify for a sky cot for the little one that clips on to the bulkhead, a bonus for the adults is that there is more legroom here. All major airlines should have sky cots for babies aged up to 2 years old.

We have found that Singapore Airlines and Malaysia Airlines give the best service for families travelling with young children.

Travelbag, Ebookers and Travelmood offer deals throughout the year (check websites), you may be lucky and get a good deal for travelling in September.

They are a highstreet flights/tours place mostly catering for students (in a university town you will have to queue behind a load of intoernational students booking flights home!) but they have good deals for non-students too.

I used them to book a flight to Australia and I used them in Australia (they were originally an Australian company but are now worldwide) to fly back home.

Just second what Dundeeman said. We regularly go to Aus and found singapore and malaysia to be the best. We've booked with Travelbag and Travelmood and found that they find the cheapest flights for us. You can also play them off on each other - e.g. "i've found this flight with Travelbag, can you beat them". ps Sydney airport is awful - really needs updating, took ages to get through passport control.

    ;) Thanks!
