Yes. State Registered Nurse as it was in those days. Perhaps I should have stuck to it - might not be in such a mess now!

Bloody hard work though, is nursing Bookie - I had 8 years in the NHS (non-medical) and D/E grade nurses do such long hours. Then when you get up to Sister/Matron etc, there's all the non-nursing 'stuff' to deal with such as reports/staffing issues.

I was a member of St Johns as a kid - I did my First Aid and then my Home Nursing exams. I remember it taking weeks to get to the stage of an exam but courses seem so quick now.

I used to love going to stuff where I was on duty and parading up and down in my uniform. My cape was my favourite bit!

Buffy, are the snails still under the bed, or have you got them in a tank?

Hi Linda :hello: it's years since I've been to Birmingham.

They are still in a storage box, but it has (always) holes and now peat cuttlefish etc, oh and a flowerpot. so far they like greens but don't like grapes. They smell better with the peat, and now I don't feel so guilty. They really like the cuttlefish - you can hear them eat it tho which is weird and disgusting. They are nice to watch I guess, if you have a couple of hours!!!

I think in april (after I get paid) I will look for a tank, they do some nice plastic ones. Currently they are on a shelf. and try to plant some kind of container garden thing for them to live. will have to investigate suitable plants!!! I like that idea, it might look nice on my window sill.

I need sleep. was worrying last night about Dentist, so don't sleep. off for a nap

    see you all later

What does your Ma think of the snails?

It's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.

I haven't exactly told her yet................ she'll never believe I thought I was buying apple snails, I will leave that conversation for a bit!

They are sort of cute.... I mean they are mine now so thats it, if you see what I mean!! one is quite quick(relatively speaking) one is clearly stupid (goes opposite way to food)one is shy (hiding in peat)and one follows either the quick one or the stupid one.

not like I have been watching them or anything :rotfl: I think a new tank on the desk or window sill would be ok.
