Hi gentlepurr, just popped over from DFW baord as have no motgage to be free of so mot usually on here (as in can't afford a house yet not paid off mortgage!). Know nothing about mortgages but have had a lot of run ins with child tax credit. Was suprised they are stopping your payments, I am self employed so reguarly my situation changes. They have always sorted it over the phone, and never had to do anything on paper, when they've said before they are stopping payments to resort new amounts, I have just said ok, hung up rung back and spoken to someone new who has sorted it all there and then. Maybe worth ringing again and see what they say, they can't leave you stranded for that long. Though having said that when they do backpay the 8/10 weeks if you've managed without it you'll have a nice lump sum to put against mortgage.

beani lou, you have hit the nail on the head re the packed lunches! mind you, by the time you buy all good stuff for the lunch boxes, its not far short of the £1.65 a day it costs for school meals, and at least i know he is getting a (half!) decent warm meal every day, so gives me a bit of flexibilty at night.

thanks for your comments re my avatar. i wish she was mine! i had a cat exactly like her a few years ago!
