Follow up threads to bargains : Please read

There has been an increase lately of new threads being started in this forum with updates or complaints about previous bargains. The principle of this forum is to post bargains that are only available for a limited amount of time. It is also helpful to update the post when the offer is expired or post in this thread to confirm its now over.

If the offer is not limited for a time period the Shop but don't Drop is more appropriate. If you are having problems with a product/retailer honouring a deal or voucher, and this offer is no longer available to other readers, why not post about it in the Vent it board? There have recently been some very popular threads that everyone wants to update eachother about the progress, but if the offer has expired, this board is not the place to do it. Inevitably these threads get bumped to the top and are confusing for people that have missed the original offer and also can draw attention from bargains that are still available.

Thanks for you co-operation and continue to enjoy the MSE chat forums.

Without wanting to upset anyone, could I also add a request for more informative thread titles please? Titles like 'Warning' or '75% off', for example, really need the supplier's/retailer's/whatever's name in to enable us to decide whether or not they are of interest.

Could I also suggest that posting 'me too' to simply confirm that you, like others, have done what someone else has suggested is also less than helpful? There is one particular thread on here, which shall remain nameless, but which has almost three pages of 'me toos' with a few postings containing additional questions or information lost between them.

There is not alway's enough room on the Title bar to put alot of info,
Well, I just checked, and the title will take 50 characters: plenty to expand on 'Warning' or '75% off'...
most people click on the thread and find the link inside and then decide whether or not they want to view anymore. :)
I understand that, but by doing so they are putting extra pressure on MSE's server, so slowing down access for everyone else. It's also fairly annoying to find that, but for a little extra thought on the OP's part in the first place, accessing a thread just wasn't necessary. Checking through, what can sometimes be quite a large number of threads, is much easier/quicker if the titles make clear what the threads are about.

    Yes I agree scumgrinder. :)

In fact a liitle more thought on ALL aspect's of posting would be nice. :)
  • More description in the titles, ie., exact offer and price also help when we're skimming through looking for tips to go in the email. :)
