I would definately check out the Tripadvisor web site. We found our hotel for Rome on there which was Hotel Santa Maria - however it's not cheap (although not dear either by Rome standards). It's a wonderful place and the area itself is fantastic.

For evenings out you will not need to venture far and we found that the Trastevere area of the city was much more reasonably priced. The Piazza Santa Maria is a beautiful square to while away the hours people watching and the numerous side streets are filled with trattorias, bars and ice cream parlours.

The Hotel has some good suggestions for places to eat our favourite was La Fraschetta which is a Pizzeria on Via San Francesco (about 5 - 10 minutes walk away)(web site https://www.lafraschetta.com) cheap and does great pizzas.

Have a great time - and don't forget to have a glass or two of Prosecco in one of the Piazzas in the evening.

Thanks to everyone for their help! :T

Has anyone ever been to the Villagio Verde Aparthotel? I saw some good rates and the reviews were excellent, I just can't find out how to get a quote.
