I've been on here before but I wanted to change my diary title because I think I've had all the help I can and now it's up to me:D.

My new challenge is to get rid of my loan and save for a house of my own, nothing fancy something like a terrace but it to be mine. But my challenge is to be in my own home by Xmas 09 so I can put up a christmas tree up in my own home.

I have been told that if I clear my loan and save up a particular amount I could get the type of house I would like.

So with my new diary here goes wish me luck.............

Thankyou :D just hope i can do it can't wait for pay day to come, I can take a big chunk off my loan as i have been doing for 4 weeks worth of overtime 32 hours at doubletime.

It's my first two days off today and tomorrow since doing overtime so to keep me busy i've been gardening in the front garden as it's such a nice day, In hopeful preparation for my allotment which i have had to redo the application forms as the council had not passed them on .

But the good news is they said they would back date them to january.

    Hey Cozza,

Just wanted to wish you lots of luck, i'm sure you'll do it as seem very determined.

I'm kinda the same as you, splitting all my extra money between saving to pay my debts off and towards joint savings with OH towards our deposit for first house. Thankfully overtime spurt has started with work and I could potentially have 29hrs overtime available per week (pending our systems) - not sure I could work all those but going to start aiming for 40-50 a month and see where that gets me! Only wish the overtime was regular as things would be far easier...still can't moan now can we ;)

Will keep popping in to see how you are getting on, take care x
No spend days for March = 3
    Money to joint savings 2009 = £100.00
    Money to personal savings 2009 = £0.00
  • Just wanted to say good luck and hope it all works out for you.

Been a little bit naughty and been to the beauty salon, had my eyes waxed and tinted but it was £10 instead of £20 which was a bonus :p

I have also applied for an account with halifax on that £5 deal thingy they are doing, better than my current bank that I have had for over ten years and haven't done me any favours. They asked if i wanted a credit card and guess what I said NO i'm so proud of myself:T

well done for saying no to the credit card, an achievement in itself. i have to admit that i still go and have my eyebrows waxed. Ok not every couple of week but i still go even though i have loads of debt to clear, but it's a drop in the ocean really.

Yeah I only go so often as mine are blonde and with tinting it goes so quick I tend not to go until its really needs it

Just counting down the days until payday and been informed that there are two more weeks of overtime at doubletime so yay 28hours of pay extra for 14 hours:j. So more money to pay into my loan. I want to get it down to quite low then ask them how much it would cost to pay off in full as sometimes they reduce the amount.

Well i've updated my signature to include my normal loan payment and my extra £510.00 payment ive made this month. Altho I thought it would have brought my loan into the £2000's it hasn't due to what they take off interest. I'm hoping to get rid of the loan and have £2000 in savings by christmas.

I have had a few birthdays for this month's pay to take out so thats why its not as much as i wanted to put in. Maybe next month, as i'll have two lot's of overtime in it.
