Pet insurance cancelled by More Than

Looking for advice on Pet Insurance.
We have had our 3 and a half year old Yorkshire Terrier insuranced with More Than since when had him as a puppy. We also have car insurance, home and content, letting insurance and another dog insured with them, all set up on direct debt, which goes out just after I've been paid.
We had a accident with Jack last Saturday, and he fracture his leg in 3 places, we took him to the emergence vet, who patched him up as best as she could, but informed us he would have to have a operation, which will cost a minimum of 2k, we were ok as we had pet insurance we though.
Phone More Than up the next to to inform them of what has happen, and they informed us that the policy had been cancelled, the reason being was they hadn't recieved a payment for 5 months, and recieved instruction from out back (Nat West) that the direct direct is to be cancelled. More Than state they have sent us 4 letters informing us they haven't received a payment and the policy was cancelled in January. We haven't had any such letters, but we have had numerous letters from them regarding our other policy or trying to sell us something.
Since then we have found that the direct debit is still active with Natwest and they have taken money out on the 5th of December, which isn't 5 months ago.
I have requested the letter they received from Natwest cancelling the direct debit, and that still hasn't come.
Any advice?
I have contact the FOS.
And the dog is ok, as I managed to find a very kind vet that was done the operation, and letting us pay £150 a month, but we will be over 2k out of pocket, but at least Jack didn't have to have his leg off.

Aww i'm sorry to hear about his accident & glad he's ok. I can't be much help but have you tried the CAB? You're doing the right things by requesting the letter, I hope you can get it sorted it's alot of money!0 -
If the payment has been going out ask them for copies of the letters they sent you and see if these make sense and correlate with the dates they are telling you.
If they are trying it on you can fax them a copy of your Bank Statement showing the payments going out (You can blank out account details and any other payments etc)
Are all of More Thans policies taken in one payment on the same day or are they taken as seperate payments?0 -
It's your responsibility to ensure that the direct debits are going out each month.
If they have been - then get back on to the damned Insurers....Reassuringly expensive0 -
Isn't the idea of direct debit to make life simple, its a way of paying without you worrying about it, you just need to make sure there is money in the account, which there was. Plus if you bouce a direct debit you also get charged by your bank and get a letter, which we haven't.
All the policy have there own direct debit, but are all around the same time, and none of them have been missed.0 -
We have also gone back to them with the information we have from the bank, and they are still not playing ball, I've requested all the information in writting yet again of when they sent the letters, when they received the instruction to cancel the direct debit and a break down of each months payments.
I can tell you now they will not send them.0
