Validity of Contract of Employment?

I have started a couple of other threads about my impending redundancy and have one final question before I go to my consultation meeting with my employer on Monday. I have managed to find a copy of my contract of employment and found it is 9 years old. The contract was given to me when I was first offered a promotion from the workshop to a position in the office of Project Engineer. Over the years my role has changed and I have since been given a company car and another promotion to an Automation Project Manager. My contract was never updated in any way to reflect either of these changes to my employment status with the company. I would like to know whether my previous contract is still legal and binding?
Any advice would be appreciated as always.

Yep, you could have asked for a revised job description, but otherwise the original contract (i.e. the last signed one) presides. I had a job for seven years under the same contract, my role changed many times, but came under the header of "ad hoc tasks as required".0

Thanks for the advice. The fact it is binding may work in my favour as there is no clause about payment in lieu of notice which should mean my notice pay is not taxable because it is classed as compensation. On the flip side I am hoping to push for compensation for loss of benefits if they take the car off me immediately. Not quite sure where I stand on that as I didn't have a car when my contract was signed.0 -

When you were offered a company car did you get a letter telling you ?
I may be wrong but I think that letters sent to you telling you about things like payrises, getting company cars etc things are effectively notifying you of a change to your contract. In fact, I think that letters I've received in the past about pay rises have even included something like 'In all other respects the terms and conditions of your contract will remain unchanged.....' (but it's been so long ago since I've had one I can't remember for sure...:( )0 -

You should be entitiled to compensation for all benifits for your full notice period if they stop them.
car, phone, pension contributions, health,......
you don't ned formal change to the contract for them to become part of the T&C's, pay rises are a good example where by them paying and you accepting they become part of the contract.0
