Customers can ask for a Visa chargeback from their bank if the goods they receive are damaged, do not arrive, or if they do not get the service paid for.0 -

I was hoping for a piece of legislation which would allow this.BargainGalore wrote: »http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/working_lunch/7347146.stm

Thats is one read and bookmarked page now - very handy

The band have been told the venue 'should' re-open in a few weeks but due to the forclosure way it was suddenly shut down even to the owners surprise I am unsure of this. But either way hopefully the gig will still go ahead and if not I can use the info on these links to do a visa debit chargeback if ticket-web wont refund.
Many thanks for all the help and repliesSome People Live & Learn, Some People Just Live...0 -

Oh dear ! - yet another who when they have an error in their facts pointed out to them has to resort to name calling !
As I said and will say again: "read what I said - and understand it " Perhaps this will help:-
"Chargeback is not enshrined in law like section 75, but is part of the Visa Scheme Rules, which participating banks subscribe to" (Which)
"AND you have used your Visa card, you can get your money back (subject to your bank’s terms and conditions)". (Visa)
"The key difference is that when you claim on a credit card under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act, the credit card company is legally liable.
But the Visa Debit chargeback scheme is not legally binding, so you don't have any legal redress if you are unhappy". (BBC)
(my highlighting)
Visa Scheme Rules are entirely under the control of those participating in the scheme - there is NO legal compunction on them to follow those rules.
Just to reiterate: my original statement was, and still is 100% correct:-
"but there is no legal requirement for them to do this"0 -
Thank you moonrakerz I agree 100% with you.0

i gfeel it would be unfair to expect fans to wait ?? weeks/months for another venue to be sorted.. meanwhile the ticket agency has ll the money earning interest on other peoples money!Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..

Isn't this how they all work??brightonman123 wrote: »i gfeel it would be unfair to expect fans to wait ?? weeks/months for another venue to be sorted.. meanwhile the ticket agency has ll the money earning interest on other peoples money!
Any big ticket name act sell tickets many many months in advance.0 -
....ticket-web and in their terms it says:
TicketWeb is not responsible for the products, services, actions or failure to act of any venue, performer, promoter or other third party in connection with or referenced on the Site.
They can say whatever they like in their T&Cs, but if a contract term is deemed 'unfair' then it is not binding.

If your contract was with Ticketweb then they are obliged to provide the product or service as agreed or refund your money. Their contracts with third parties are their business and not your concern.
My advice would be to contact Consumer Direct and discuss this with them. They should be able to advise you on how to proceed in getting your money back.
