After a quick scan in Mr T's yesterday I have decided it's just too damn expensive to buy a flask. So I am going to see if the parentals have one extra they don't need. I already have one of those Thermos lunchbags which will come in handy.

This weekend I have no social shenanigans so I have decided to root out everything for eBay. I have loads of designer clothes that I can flog and tbh I think I go through a cycle of about 20 outfits and everything else justs sits in the wardrobe. So I say NO! to owning 20 pairs of Abercriombie joggers!:rotfl:
I also have a lot of books that I can get rid of too along with a ton of DVD's.
I downloaded Turbolister last night so i can get cracking at the weekend. i have not sold on Amazon yet but might have a look on there for book prices.
In the past I have posted out my items which have been sold via the mail at w*rk which means I can usually get a higher price for my items as i don't charge postage. Sneeky indeed and I don't want to advocate that peeps do this so shhhhh!:shhh:

Went through a SOA/Budget type thing with OH last night. I think he was a little shocked as it was all there in black in white but he seemed happy to get on the MSE bandwagon. Although I think I will have to break him slowly. He does not know I bulk out mince with porridge and veg or water down the soaps and shampoo!:A We figured out that we will be able to manage BUT being frugal now will pay dividends in the future.

    ]Bank update:
    - Closed Lloyds ac yesterday:j
    - Still undecided on the Investment AC with NS&I that I have.
    - I have opened another Savings ac but with Smile which is just a little back up fund I want to create.:A

    Money to come in:mad:
-About £900 from letting agent at old flat for deposit it's been nearly a month!

    Jobs today:

    -Research train ticket prices
-Organise passport photos which I think I may be able to do at home on my printer:idea:
    - Root around internet for info and inspiration

Changed our Broadband last night to O2 thanks to Martin's tip yesterday. We got the premium package for under a tenner a month as OH has mobile with them. Also we went through Quidco and got a free 3G dongle and £60 cash back which has tracked!YEEESSSS!:money::money::money::money::money:

House of HockeyDuo is a happy one

I got a 500ml flask last year from Pound Stretcher for £3. And I use mine for tea/coffee - it saved me quite a lot of money after a while. They may come down in price later, perhaps now is not the time to be looking for a flask cos its summer
  • Got to pay in £50 to bank at lunch and that's about it for me today.

I got a confirmation email from Smile to say they shall be opening my Savings Ac. I just need to wait for details and card to come in post. I am still waiting on bank card from BOS for other savings ac. I hope this comes by the end of the month as I want to start a PAD.

Went a bit mental last night and did a MASS wardrobe clearout. Got 2 bags of clothes for eBay, anything that is too shoddy or does not sell I am putting to charity shop. I also put together a bag of clothes and handbags for LS as she is poor student so will welcome free clothes. Especially as they all designer items. I could be putting this on eBay but tbh I feel that she would benefit more plus if she doesn't want them then she can sell/give to charity.
So this weekend will be photographing and listing on eBay I think.

Also will be having a BBQ as have about 5kg of prawns to use up:rotfl: Lions game on Saturday but sadly no Scots made the line up:sad:

Still awaiting money from Letting Agent
Checked Quidco and have over £100 to be paid this month:j:j:j
Got £15 worth of DVDs to go to MusicMagpie so just waiting on labels in post.

Still trying to figure out train costs; looking about £70 per week with railcard:eek::eek:

Happy Friday from House of Hockeyduo

  • NSD's are going down a treat and really helping the waistline too.

Items from mental wardrobe clearance are bagged up but have not got on eBay yet as internet access still not available. Hopefully this weekend they shall be listed.

    Money Money Money...
Smile savings aka Back-Up Ac is open and active with card on it's way. I have set up SO to fund it on a monthly basis. Not planning on touching this money unless totally and utterly necessary! No money in just now but payment will start on July 1st.
BOS savings ac is also fully active with £330 in it atm. Card is in post and should arrive today.
Joint AC has got under 2 grand in it so that's all good. Payday tomorrow as well:j

Still not got money from Letting Agent:mad: they paid it into my old ac which has been closed instead of the ac which I noted on there paperwork at their request. AAAAARRGHHH they are so annoying. So glad I will never have to worry about another letting agent again.

Got a small thermos for £1 in Asda:T which will do for my tea and still on lookout for food thermos.

Quidco payment for this month is about £107 which is super duper. This is also being added to savings.

It's pretty quiet on student mse section of forum. I wish more student peeps were posting with tips and questions.

  • End of June which means i hand in my notice tomorrow:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek: Very scared but it's necessary; tbh not sure what i am scared about as I am giving them loads of notice and keeping within all guidelines. I guess nobody like serious chats with senior management at the best of times let alone teling them that you are [STRIKE]fleeing[/STRIKE] regretfully leaving:D

    Money Banter:
    - Continue to save into BOS AC
    - PAD to 'Secret Smile AC' will start tomorrow as I now have pay in book
    - Got other half of deposit returned from Evil Letting Agent although they are still holding onto nearly £200 which we are fighting tooth and nail for:mad::mad: The battle continues....
    - Savings in joint AC are still grand but will take a big hit with Council Tax and Gas/Elec coming off this month for first time.
    - Aiming for 15-20 NSD this month
    - Items are now on eBay with another 10 or so still to list. Some have bids and watchers which is great:T
    - Got to package up DVDs for MusicMagpie and get them away
    - Have got atm cards for both savings accounts but waiting on PINs now. Have decided to keep these in the safe at home as will not be spending on these accounts.

    Other Chat:
    - Need to contact SAAS/SLC for a payment schedule for student loan.
    - Try and sort out rail travel. I have found that I need to change trains once if i get on at the station at top of road or I can drive 5 mins to next station an get train that has no stops although i have to get on 10mins earlier...Hmmmm not sure about this yet...

So far it has been a good month on the savings front with only one more pay due from work at end of July inc holiday pay. I am really going to miss my salary and the next 10months or so are going to be tough on both OH and I. We really need to focus on the end result as I will be earning a grand more a month than I do now PLUS this will go up.
I am not going to miss my job here but I will miss the friends I have made.

OK enough of this sentimental chat....

Well I handed my notice to my Boss last week and it all went fine..phew! Was a little apprehensive (Sp?) So now I have 3 weeks to go and then I am off. Very excited now; cannot wait to get going at uni!

    Money Money Money:
    - Going down to Newcastle 1st wknd of Aug and got a voucher for a free stay through work at Travelodge. So that's been put to good use saving us £85!!:money:

    - Got a bank charge reclaim cheque from evil RBS, £17.50, but hey every little helps!Lol
    - NSD's are going strong too
    - Credit cards are still at zero:T

Not much else to report just now but will come back later on
