I'm from W.Yorks too and weirdly I too was looking at this this morning!
Anyway, my conclusions were that Toni and Guy academies all seem to be in London or thereabouts. I live in Oxford at the moment (studying) and was going to make the trip to London. However, reading reviews, a lot of people were disappointed with getting a haircut that was done without much reference to what would suit them etc. not to mention the time involved (over 3 hours sometimes!)
I decided instead to be cheeky and I rang round loads of nearby salons and asked if they needed models. I've managed to get an appointment with the one down the road from me for free. I know that Mahogany sometimes have trainee people (they did mine and it looked great), as do Toni and Guy's local branches. You often have to book them directly through the students though, so you might have to ring more than once because trainees don't work every day. In the end, it's worth just going on https://www.yell.com, typing in 'hairdressers' and your town, then work down the list asking if they need models (missing out ones that sound like they might give you a blue rinse!) It's not too embarrassing as it's not face to face!0 -
i thought there was one in manchester so did a quick google - came up with this list of hairdressing schools:
http://www.hairnow.com/shop/Europe/ukhairdressrsschool/ukhairdressrsschool.htm
from that there are tony and guy academies in london, manchester, glasgow and newcastle, but it does have other well known hairdressing schools in other places too.
