quick question regarding A&L

Sorry to post a new thread but I need a v urgent answer to this for reasons various: Do A&L allow an account to go temporarily overdrawn?
I.e. if I have £30 in an account will they allow me to make a £50 Visa Debit payment to a bookie?
My Nationwide a/c does not allow this (I know some have posted that their Flex account does allow them to submit payments that will give them a negative balance but I've thoroughly tested mine (i.e. by trying a payment when I have no funds (fails every time), then transferring funds in & then trying again (works every time - & I have tried this experiement more than once).
Anyway, the A&L account in question has just had some money transferred to it (electronically from another A&L account) but unlike with Nationwide this does not appear instantly in the receiving account. Hence me needing to know if A&L will approve a debit card transaction that puts the account (temporarily) in debit.
It's not a showstopper as I can visit a branch & pay in cash if need be but if I'm going to do that I need to know asap so I can organise my day hence th urgency....
thanks

My A&L account has gone overdrawn by accident for Cheltenham. I do not know if there will be a charge - probably knowing banks as I don't have an organised overdraft - but hope it isn't much

Hope that helps.0 -
Fella, A&L are part of Santander and i have an account with Abbey, also with Santander and a couple of months ago i was in this situation and the deposit was rejected, so i would say no. Might be worth a phone call to see if they could let it go through.

ive got A&L and though ive never tried to go overdrawn by depositing wih a booky I have gone overdrawn for other payments. They have usually paid the request but have instantly charged me £25 for the privalage, robbing *^%$"(*'s.
If I was you Id call them straight away and they will arrange an overdraft facility or overdraft extension for you, well at least they have done for me in the past.0 -
Thanks for the replies. An update: although the transfer from the other A&L account wasn't instantaneous it HAS appeared about 30 mins later. So problem resolved.
cheers
