Anyone here a decorator?

I am looking to get my bathroom redone. All it really needs is tilling all around the bath and wallpaper the rest. I can do the wallpaper but am rubbish at tilling. Anyone in Somerset that can give me a good price on this?

Cheers

Very true, but if that person is doing the tiling, they might as well do the wallpaper..(saves me doing it.. lol :rotfl: )

Are you sure about wallpaper in a bathroom?

Well can't afford tilling all around the bathroom. So wallpaper would be the cheapest option, I think...

  • I have been in the building trade 26 years, as a decorator/painter/tiler and live in weston, you have not explained if the tiles go part way up the wall, or to the top, are they to cover say, just the first 2 or 3 rows around the bath, all of this makes a difference to the price, very few tilers will come out just to do a small section, of tiling you might find a handyman who will do both but do be careful who you choose, sadly there are still a lot of cowboys our there

Paint would be a cheeper option use good quality bathroom paint that can be washed. The only thing worse than wallpaper in a bathroom would be carpet!

kdowner.....B&Q have a range of tiled wallpaper for loo's and bathrooms (small, neutral tiles) that looks really good, and has stood up to the test of time and god knows how many baths and showers in our little en suite.

We used this, then put a line of three matching tiles around the bath. It looks fabby doo!

I realise this does not answer your tiler request, but just thought I would tell you

It's not a brilliant idea to fully tile a bathroom unless it has a decent extractor fan fitted. The reason being that moisture settles on the tiles and if it cannot be dissipated it tends to go mouldy.

From that point of view a matt paint is preferable since it allows some absorption of moisture into the walls. Vinyl emulsions will often cause the same problems of mould as a fully tiled bathroom without an extractor fan fitted.
