They say he would have to have numerous outbursts a day before they would get funding.

He'd be excluded well before it got to that stage though.

I feel like they are just putting obstacles in our way, and I'm seriously considering changing schools. Several people have told me how useless the school are, including several professionals who have worked with kids there.

They have so little money, but there are things they could do that would cost nothing, and they just don't bother.

(And they are absolutely convinced that the change in his behaviour is due to him now being from a broken home, even though his behaviour at home is generally more settled - I ended up crying in the last meeting we had because me and Stu went there together to show that we were amicable, and both interested, and they all ganged up on us and said it was our fault basically. It was horrible, it felt like I was being bullied in the playground)

is there another school nearby who are more supportive? It would be a difficult transitional period for him being taken out of his routine etc but in the long run, would it help?

There is one nearby that I've been told is very good, and already has a couple of children with Aspergers. I think I will ring them next week and discuss going to have a look. Now would be an ideal time to think about it, because he could start after the summer holidays, which I think would be less upheaval.

I think that's an excellent idea Snaggles, do as much as you can now to plan etc, today may be a blessing in disguise, you just never know.

Thanks BB - I'm suddenly very conscious of being a single Mum with a string of unsuitable boyfriends, living in a rough area and having a child on the verge of being kicked out of school. Think I should change my name to chavvles, not snoggles.

i was going to suggest a change of school too but i know that it can be traumatic enough for any kid, let alone Ryan...

For what it's worth, my nephew is autistic and has taken new schools pretty much in his stride... i know it's not the same thing per se, but same spectrum.
