You need 1.2volt standard AAA Ni-MH (Nickel-Metal Hydride) rechargeables.
The higher the mAh (milliampere/hour) figure the longer battery life they'll have. They are better than the old NiCads because, unlike NiCads, Ni-MH batteries do not use heavy metals that may have toxic effects. In addition, they can store up to 50% more power than NiCad batteries and do not suffer from memory effects.
Personally, I'd just go to Argos.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
Thanks for the prompt reply Heinz...that's really great as I'm eager to get them set up.0

I intended to call in to Argos to purchase the batteries as recommended by Heinz but my Argos is a bit of a trek.
I found an online shop and ordered 4 batteries (Uniross 1.2v 900 mAh NiMH) for £6.74 inc. VAT and delivery. These are the highest capacity batteries Uniross make in this range so should be equal to or better than the Argos ones. Argos are £5.99 for two.
I ordered yesterday after 4pm and received an email this afternoon informing me that my package had been scanned leaving their warehouse by Royal Mail first class post at 4.43pm. They claim 85% of their orders are received next day if ordered before 4pm.
Just to add a little icing to the cake, if you order through QUIDCO there's an 8% cash back.

Worthy of a plug IMHO
EDIT: (On Heinz's advice) Pardon the pun, especially if they are rechargeable.....oh I better stop there :-)0 -

Hi
An old thread I know but does anyone know of a cordless phone with large buttons that also has the speed dial feature where each number button can be programmed to dial a telephone number?
Thanks.0
