credit score affecting getting a mortgage!

Hi,
I already have one mortgage and recently applied for another one with C&G who turned it down due to my credit score not being good enough. I got my credit report from Experian as I've never been denied credit before and thought I had a good credit score. I saw on here that two payments had been missed to vodaphone by my brother who got a mobile phone contract in my name! This has had a ridiculously big effect on my credit score even though I have never missed any other payments and have another mortgage!I have settled the account with vodaphone but my score still hasn't changed and I can't even reapply for my mortgage with C&G until it has changed. I will end up losing money if I can't resolve this and have come here to see if there is anywhere I can get a mortgage with this credit score problem or if I can explain the situation to C&G and perhaps they will approve it? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

I was in a simular situation with a unpaid 02 from an ex girlfriend while applying for my Mortgage with HSBC. I spoke with the underwriter who was happy to proceed providing i cleared the debt and had 02 send me confirmation via email, which the underwriter wanted mail on to him.

Problem is, C & G are going through applications with a fine toothcomb at the moment to look for reasons NOT to lend.
They will class you as guilty until proven innocent as far as that phone is concerned.

    Worth appealing with C & G.

They usually take a while to look at appeals though

How long in general does an appeal take? If it gets declined will it affect my credit score further? Thanks

C&G were one of the main culprits with regard to theose 'phantom mortgage' stories a few weeks ago: people with 40k salaries borrowing about 3x their salary with perfect credit scores being rejected.

How much money have you paid out and is losing it worth a better chance at actually getting a mortgage with someone else.

I had an AIP with them for a 90% deal and a few days after the rate drop in feb they hiked theirs. Read about a lot of perfectly good potention borrowers who had been rejected so I switched to the Post Office anmd took the hit on having 2 AIPs. Just received my Offer yesterday so that proves they are lending, even to those who risk losing any equity they have, with predicted price drops.
