Selling my car to trade

Following on from a previous post I'd had an offer for my car from Concept Car Credit and have decided to accept.
They've given me a deposit and are due to collect the car from me tomorrow and pay the rest of the cash HOWEVER they said they need to keep the yellow slip section of the V5 and will return this to the DVLA.
I rung the DVLA after they've been and he's said that I need to keep the yellow section and return that to them, not the trader.
He was pretty adamant about it but if I do give him the yellow section where does that leave me? I was going to ring the DVLA regardless after the sale and inform them I'm no longer the owner and I will ask him to complete the yellow section and leave it with me but didn't want to leave myself open to anything if they keep it.

dealer may just be trying to keep number of owners down, or indeed pullig a fast one0- anything dodgy would be down to youm until their / new owner's details get registered.
i would fil out details, and show them before you post it- if tey have a problem, bets walk(drive!) away, and try selling elsewhere?Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..

You give the dealer the V5 and you keep the yellow section, fill it in with CCC's address and date it. You both sign it and YOU send it in to the address on t'back.
They could drive thru every speed camera and you'd be the one wioth the ticket in the post and no way of proving that you sold the car to a trader.
Tell them that you're gonna keep the yellow bit or to do one...0 -
I thought it might be to do with keeping the number of owners down but still seems dodgy to me, will see what they say tomorrow if not I'll walk away2p off is still 2p off!0

Eh your selling it to a dealer. Sending the yellow slip off doesn't add any more owners to it! Thats the whole point (hence why u fill in a different section for a private purchase)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So throw that theory out the window. (More likely they don't want the vat man to catch up with them)
I personally would send it off myself, that is what the dvla require u to do and you are liable for any tickets etc on the car until they receive it.0 -
A few weeks ago we bought a second hand van from a dealer, we got the full form, it had been handed to the dealer like that, unsigned by the registered owner on the form, I rung the DVLA, they said it was fine so I sent it off and have received the new V5 back.
We did sell a vehicle to a scrapman once who said we didn't need to fill in the details, but I did as the car was sorn and had also been run on red deisel on private land, so didn't want to risk it being driven on the road in my name.Debt Free Dec 2009non-smoker 19th Nov 2010Trying to lose weight 40lb/42lb

Thanks, I'll let him know I want to keep the yellow slip and see what happens, once it's sold I wil also ring the DVLA and advise them it's sold and post the slip back.2p off is still 2p off!0

Just spoken to him and he said fine I can keep the yellow slip
I did have a quick google before and found a post about someone getting a car from CCC and a different one being named on the agreement!?2p off is still 2p off!0 -

If the yellow slips removed it gives the game away that it's been sold to a trader.
If the V5 is intact, it could be for sale *on behalf of a freind* thus no come back to the trader.
