I think MIRAS for 5 years for fist time buyer is a great idea of getting the market moving - an I've advocated it on many occasions to my MP.
It should not be extended to BTL properties however (as they're not FTB!!)0 -

Why not have tax relief on rents as well? In the old days of MIRAS the 2 groups who benefitted were those buying their homes and those in receipt of housing benefit. Working people who couldn't afford to buy a house got nothing. I wouldn't like to see a return to that unfair situation.0
