insuring an unoccupied property

my father passed away last weekend and i have been left his house it is unoccupied at this time does anyone know of an insurer who insures properties that are unoccupied for buildings only th solicitor said it could take up to a year to wind up the estate thanks for any replies sam

Most household insurance policies require that the property be not left unocc for a max period of time. To comply with that,you could go spend a night there every month or so. Failing that, insure it as a holiday home.
If the estate is simple,you could do your own administration very cheaply and quickly.
I have administered two estates,dealt with probate ,tax and land reg all on my own0 -
Did your father have cover on the home already, as if he did the cheapest and easiest way is to advise them of the situation. They should change the policy holders name into the name of "The executors of the late Mr X". They will advise you of any requirements they have eg switch off mains supplies and drain the water tanks and any restrictions.
If the above is not possible you will need to use a specialist company who are likely to charge you on the region of £400 for twelves months cover for building cover of £100000 with the cover restricted to probably FLEA cover0
