What to do with 20,000

We have recently re-mortgaged and have £20,000 in our current account. The money is for an extension but the work is not starting for about another 6 weeks and then we will be paying in installments. What should we do with this money attach a new account to our current account so it remains separate and not eaten up by normal expenses or set up an entirely new and independent saving account?
Any suggestions about best place to put this money?
Thanks in advance
