Hi everyone! I am hoping to start Uni in Sept. My hubby works full time and I will be studying full time (we also have 4 dependent children) I was just wondering if I would be entitled to council tax benefit if I am studying full time? Thanks in advance

You need to get a letter from your college certifying that you are a student and your hubby will then be entitled to claim the single adult occupier discount of 25% off the council tax bill.

Slightly off topic but you may be interested in this!

In my area, the above mentioned letter can also be used to get a card from the local leisure centre, which then allows me to get in for child price. Saves a little when I take my daughter swimming, it all helps!

Yes, you will get 25% council tax discount (single person's allowance) as there is only one person over 18 in residence (you are not counted as a FT student).

With that many children and depending on how much your husband earns, you might very well also be eligible for council tax/housing benefit.

My wife works full time and I am a full time student. We only just don't qualify for HB/CTB because we don't have kids. lol
