Student Grant help - household income?

Hi there, wondering if any one can help - im 19, employed full time doing a part time foundation degree. Many people on my course have gotten grants for books etc the question is will it be my income taken into account for this or household income.
I think it should be just my income as I work full time and pay rent to my parent so I don't see why their income should be taken into account. Some people have said that you don't have to say you live with parents etc.
Please help.
Thanks, N

It's household income...
Yours and your parents income I'm afraid. And if you say that you do not live with your parents and then they find out you do... it is not a good idea!0 -
If you pay rent etc you should have moved out. I doubt you are paying for utilities, food etc. all by yourself, therefore its household income. And even so, you would have to show you supporterd yourself for 3 years running if you want to be independant.0

thanks for the responses guys, and the reason i haven;t moved out is a combination of a low paid full time job and very unreasonable parents!0

If it's a part time course, then it's your income only taken into account. Full time under 25 = parental income.0

Part time students who are single are assessed on their own income only and not their parents. This is regardless of the ir age etc. as there is no such thing as independent status for part time students.
"If your income exceeds £15,700 your entitlement would be calculated on a sliding scale support stopping at an income (after disregards) of £26,180. You would be assessed against your own income, and where appropriate, the income of your husband/wife or partner. If you are a single student under the age of 25, and living with parents, you would be assessed on your own income not your parent's income. "
Sorry, I can't remember which university's site I got the above from.0 -
