Can I enter into an IVA if i'm unemployed ?

Options
I'm stressed to the eye balls with my debt I was managing it really well paying reduced payments to my creditors.
I was really prood of myself for getting on top of my debt and getting creditors to let me pay the lowest payments.
Recently though my utility bills have got higher, so I've now tried to tweak a few things to pay for these but as i'm paying the lowest payments to my creditors.I can't reduce these any more as a result some of my accounts are now being passed to debt collection agencies.

I'm live with my partner(recent) I was on income support
I have 4 children and we recieve all benefits including housing and council tax.
I only spend £80 a week on food which is a struggle and hav'nt been out or bought clothing for months clothes are handme downs and given to us for my kids by a lovely neighbour
my partners income is £104 a week and somtimes he doesnt even bring that home he has set up his own business.and takes minium wage.

As the debt is mine my partner wont enter into an IVA with me which is understandable i don't expect him to

Any advice please

p.s I will be contacting cccs when i have my finances written out.

  • I suggest you look at www.entitledto.com

Also, your best debt solution may be a debt relief order, which helps people with low income, few assets and who do not own their own home. I don't know if you rent or not but thought I would include it anyway.

    Hi there,

Unfortunately an IVA isn't an option if you are not working. Once you've booked in an appointment your counsellor will discuss all the relevent options for you.

    Good luck!
    Matthew.
