Verify Yahoo Account?

This is the first time I have posted on this board, I am very ignorant of most computer related things and very easily confused, so please be gentle.

But when I had a problem the first place I turned to was MSE because I know there are kind people on here.

I wanted to join freecycle, so clicked all these links, then went to 'verify email address' in my email account. I clicked on verify email account and the exact message is 'To complete the verification, you need to sign out from your current account ?@yahoo.co.uk and sign into ?@yahoo.co.uk. Click on the “Sign Out & Continue” button to continue with the verification process.' I keep doing this, but nothing happens. The two account names are identical.

What do I need to do? Can anyone help - I would be very grateful for any help.

Most sites will SEND you an email with a 'link' on it to click (Saying something like ~ clear here to verify)
Once clicked it will open a page and 'should' simply say that the email account has been verified

Somewhere else I remember reading about this and the advice was to set up a new yahoo email and try that. Yahoo will let you have more than one email attached to their groups so you can then just change the profile once the other account clears. Assuming that the fault is at their end. Which it was that time if I'm remembering correctly.

Thank you for your replies.

It is the verification email that I am clicking on, but that won't let me log on as I am already logged on, no matter how often I try to log out.

I've managed to get it to work with a different name, so fingers crossed I won't get into trouble.
