(She's eight now so can have the odd olive.)
My DD1 has been eating olives since she was a toddler - minus the stones of course. I don't buy them too often as they are expensive and she and DH will go through a jar in an couple of days quite easily. Personally I can't stand them0 -
Hi yummymummy,
When mine were small we had things like boiled eggs and soldiers, scrambled eggs on toast, banana and wheaten bread, cheese on toast, sardines on toast, yoghurt and fruit, cheese and savoury biscuits or scones, anything leftover in the fridge chopped up as finger foods etc. Leftovers from the previous night's meal were great and often I would make a little extra to save me time the next day.
I know you said he wasn't keen on the idea of soup but it's such a good way of getting veg into little ones, could you make a thicker or chunkier soup that will seem less like a drink to him?
These threads have more ideas that may help:

when my son was this age he liked anything he could pick up in his fingers - slices of egg white, cold cooked peas (I know), chunks of cucumber, slices of cheese, satsuma segments, wholewheat crackers, breadsticks. Didn't look particularly appetising to me, but then I wasn't a toddler!!0

My little one's the opposite - even for sandwiches he insists that he needs a knife fork and spoon!!
I'm going to try making some chunky soup at the weekend and see if that goes down any better.
On the subject of boiled eggs and soldiers, I know this is something he would love as he loves dipping things but I just concerned about the egg shell? I'm not sure that he would quite understand that he can't eat it lol!!Proud wife to a soldier and mummy to two gorgeous boysDealing with our Debt Barclaycard £2022.98 RBS £1249.86 Next £183.03September Groceries £120/£102.05:( September Packed Lunches 22/6Sealed Pot Challenge #9940 -

I have this prob with my youngest, I just peel it right down to the top of the egg cup, sometimes I can get the whole shell off without spilling yolk everywhere!June Grocery Challenge £493.33/£500 July £/£500

I was more thinking of the salt content of some olives for small kids, tbh.Val.0 -
How about pin wheels.
One flat tortilla. Put in your filling, roll it up and cut into pin wheels.
They look nice and colourful, you could do different ones marmite, chicken, ham, even jam to make a colourful mix.
Perhaps even make a pattern with them, or wheels for a bus, with carrot and cucumber sticks making the bus and windows and cherry tomatoes for the people.

Hi
me and my girl quite often have a kind of a fritatta made from a couple of eggs, cheese and whatever bits you have like peas, ham, sweetcorn, chopped bacon or leftover veg, cut into slices.
Or pasta with quick tomato sauce (tin tomatos, onion, garlic, mixed herbs) sometimes with a bit of cream cheese mixed in. with tuna or veg

Looking for ideas for lunches for my days off. When working I take sandwiches and make the same for OH but on my days of I'd like to do something different for lunch. By sandwiches I also mean wraps, different bread types etc. so I am looking for ideas non bread related
Also just to make things more difficult OH does not like eating soup  so thats a no go too.
Any suggestions would be great
Thanks:AWhatever it is - I didn't do it!:A0 -
When I'm at home by myself at lunchtime, I often make pasta/noodle dishes. Favourites include spaghetti with broccoli/anchovies/breadcrumbs, spaghetti with cauliflower/anchovies/capers, noodles with pak choi in oyster sauce, miso soup with noodles & mushrooms. On Monday I had beans on toast with some leftover chorizo added to the beans. Sometimes I do mussels or crab, because I'm the only person who likes those.Mortgage started on 22.5.09 : £129,600Overpayments to date: £3000June grocery challenge: 400/6000
