VoipCheap Credit expiry problem

When I signed up THERE WAS NO TIME LIMIT. Thus they are breaking the contract entered into when they accepted my money.

I use it regularly to phone China (0.5ppm), but that is 2000 minutes! I occasionally phone UK mobiles using it as well. I also use it for (ALWAYS) free landline calls.

I have £5.65 left on my account.

My credit expires tomorrow. I have fruitlessly emailed them about their contractual obligations. Their own published telephone & fax numbers are false.

My assigned number is used for incoming calls.

I have tried to put more money into my account today, but it says I have too much credit and won't let me!

Has anyone any suggestions, before I lose my credit / number / account?

  • I was unable to buy more credit. My balance has now gone to zero.

    THEY HAVE STOLEN MY £5.65

Now when I access my account I can buy more credit. Min £10 + 16% VAT = £11.60
  • Though indeed there was no timelimit, they are still allowed to change the cost of calls to certain countries!

I'm afraid T&C's cover this, but its easy to overlook these.

My only suggestion is to use VOIPBuster instead. I've been using this service for the best part of a year.... yes you need to stick some money in your account, but only to prove you're a real person and not a bot. You can also use Sipgate.com with x-lite voip software to give you're PC a phone number for FREE which would be local rate for other people to call.. you can even choose an area code.

    Hope this helps..

  • MK, All the companies you have mentioned belong to Finarea & they ALL now impose a time limit & take your unspent credit after 120 days!

I am NOT objecting to call tariff variations. It is the fact that they varied the contract (introducing a deposit time limit) after the point of sale!

I tried to buy more credit - but the site blocked my attempt as my credit was too high, then they stole my money the next day!

The minimum purchase is now £11.60
  • Well.. it is a very very good service they provide.. why not pay the money and then enjoy free calls?

Yes ok it may feel like you've been conned because of a change in contract or whatever, but it would cost more to follow it up in court then it would to pay the £11.60 and enjoy their amazing cheap service?

They have to make charges/changes somewhere otherwise they wouldn't be able to afford to exist! That would be worse for everyone!

    u missin his point m8!

a contract is a contract is a contract!! or is it??
  • Did you read every word in the T&C when you signed up? I assume not... so don't complain when something unexpected happens.

The contract may be a contract, but try enforcing it. Also remember its governed by German law. In Germany there may be provisions to vary contracts without notice.

Mine now expires in 109 days, but since I put £5 in it I have only used 15p so I am not surprised. I use it all the time to call Germany and the US, and since these are totally free, its hard to see how they are going to make any money!

Received an e-mail from Sipdiscount saying my credit will expire soon. Like the other companies in Finarea, there was no notice stating this when I signed up.

I have already put this on one board so someone can slap my wrist if they want but here goes.

If you have credits use them in phoning 0870 and 0845 numbers that you cannot get 01 numbers for. Since I was told my credit was being zeroed I have made most of my credit using it up in 0870 and 0845 for which I would have to pay anyway.
