It is probably an in house display that lets you seem how much electricity you are using at anytime. It allows you to see the difference turning things off instead of leaving them on standby make. Good thing for a MSE.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

Could be a smart meter, I believe EDF are trialing smart meters in some areas, cant see why some of the other suppliers wouldnt want to trial them too.
Smart meters take meter readings every half hour and have a radio transmitter in them that send the readings back to the company so you never get an estimated bill again, it also allows them to give you a kind of "itemised" bill showing you when you used the electric and how much you used.
What supplier are you with?Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -
The big problem with Smart metering is who pays for the installation?
The cost will be £billions for the whole country.0
