Regarding Pre-Paid Credit Cards

Options
Hello,

Have you guys heard about pre-paid credit cards? Can you explain more of it to me, this seems to be my only option.

I am setting up a shopping website and need a credit card but i'm unemployed and dont have anything close to a decent amout in my bank account!

I have checked this website: http://www.mycashplus.co.uk/

Can you guys tell me if this is "legit"? (In general and regarding the website)

PS: Sorry if this has already been posted, I did alittle search but didnt find anything.

Thanks in advance
Kind regards
Yaseen

  • Hi There ,

Yes Cashplus is ok,its a mastercard that as the website tells you you top it up just like a top up phone and then you can use the card to buy things on the net or in shops.
You can not use it if you do not have any credit on it as it gets checked each time you use it to make sure you have funds on it.

The only down side to it is that the cost of it each month but i think its a good thing if you can not get real credit.

so I say yes get one.

After taking a quick glance through the terms the fees seem quite alot. What do you think?
(newbie question)Whats the diffrence between this and a normal credit card? Apart from you have to pay when you use.

Are there any other good companys you know of like this one?

See bluecorner.co.uk it doesn't have monthly fee and charge you only for cash withdrawals.

It says on the website that its not a credit card, though would that be excepted on websites like ebay/paypal/worldpay/etc?

Remember if you use paypal you can use direct bank debit to pop the money out of your account.... I don't know if you have to have a fallback credit card (normally when I buy anything with direct bank debit via paypal it says backup funding source and my visa card that they have registered) or whether you don't need one.
    Shuffle up and deal!

I applied for a Pre-paid Maestro card with 360 money but was disappointed to find it was not Chip and Pin, looked on the Bluecorner website and that too doesn't mention being a Chip and Pin. Upto now have found Cashplus's Mastercard the best. You can either pay £4.95 a month if you are going to use it alot, or like myself I pay a £1 a transaction as I don't use it much.
