You'd be better off asking on the insurance board ;)

They are a broker / comparison site.

Which Insurer have they quoted you with and do you know what the total excess is (The "voluntary" excess and any "Compulsory" excess added together)

excess total of £500 which is the norm for me as im 22 and only 3yrs no claims. plus my car is so old if anything hit it it would be a right off!

cover is with Groupama (who are they?!?)xxx

    Groupama are French Insurer.

The excess is actually not the normaly excess for a 22 year old, it would normally be between £150 and £300. Looks like a voluntary excess has been added on top, can you afford to pay £500 out at any time if you have an accident and if your car is old is it worth having an excess that big?

Groupama are ok, they can be a bit nit picky sometimes

Theres your answer go with Hastings for 20 more!

If you look at it this way if you go with IG4 you have to pay £200 more excess for a £20 saving. On that basis you would have to go for ten years without making a claim to save money eg £200 / £20 = 10 years.

Have a look at this link as Martin reckons these companies do a cash back for Hastings which might help you.

To get the discount you will probably have to run your quote the cash back website to get the discount (Make sure the premium is still competitive as sometimes they are more). It can be worth deleting the cookies in your computer first so Hastings don't recognise your computer

Check that you're getting the cover you need - if you buy the cheapest policy you can bet something is missing ;)

Have you tried getting a quote from the hastings essentials website direct (Delete your cookies again).

tinkerbelle it does not look to bad a policy for the money, its their economy policy so no personal effects cover and legel is extra but it does provide a courtesy car (Where availabe) which surprised me.
