Outrageous Replacement Microwave Turntable Price!

Does anyone know of a source for replacement glass microwave turntables at a reasonable price? My MIL swears it just 'came apart in her hand'...yeah, right. Model is an LG MS1942ES. 245mm diameter turntable.
I checked both Partmaster and a site called 4MyLG. Prices were around £25 incl postage. Considering that the microwave only cost me about £50, this seems excessive for a piece of heat resistant glass!

Hi,
I took a chunk out of the rim of mine one day when removing a mug of coffee I had
been reheating, clipped the rim with the bottom of the mug, plate was ok to use, so no
panic.
Anyway, I like a plunder in the charity shops, and picked one up for 50p, so have a
wee deek in your local charity shops, the diameter doesn't have to be exact.0 -
Thanks, that will be another option-I had thought of lurking at the local tip, as they tend to have stack of m/waves.
It's a 245mm turntable which is one of the universal sizes. I have found a site called easyspares that does universal ones for about £15 incl postage-bit more reasonable. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Send your girlfriend down to the local dump. Get her to smile sweetly at the chaps there and ask if they have one available in the old, dumped microwaves brought in for recycling.
If they find her one, a fiver dropped on the staff desk or into the guvnor's top pocket will still be way cheaper than £25 plus delivery costs.0 -

Thanks-don't think this will work if I send the MIL down there instead though...No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

Don't dismiss it completely, I had this happen to a panasonic one fairly recently too! I searched high and low for a replacement in charity shops and ended up with a glass one that didn't quite fit properly but was ok. Then about a month later, the MW blew up!!!Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!

Hi,
You could always try having a look on Freecycle or how about bidding for a cheap microwave on ebay? I haven't looked on ebay but you might pick up one for pennies there and just be able to use the plate?
Good luck.0
