Threaten to cancel your Barclaycard and you get £30 in vouchers

Options
I just rang Barclaycard to cancel my card (as I had just opened up a cashback credit card) and was put through to the customer loyalty team.

The lady offered me £30 in high street vouchers not to close my account as she told me there were new exciting things coming up. She said that the vouchers would be with me in the next 3 weeks.

(She asked me why, and I said it was the death of their price promise, and the withdrawal of Nectar points which made me do it.)

Hope that helps people.

By the way the telephone number I rang was 01604 234294 (from saynoto8070.com) just to save you that little bit more.

Bob.

they've been doing this for a while to stop people giving up the card - see this thread here when they were giving people extra Nectar points to stay :)

Just an update to this post.

I still haven't received my £30 vouchers that I was promised. I will give them a call tomorrow to find out what is going on.
