Paying money into a current account

Hi,
I need to pay somebody over a £1000 into his Barclay's account from my Halifax account. Could I just go to Braclays and hand over my Halifax debit card and as them to credit the account for the money? And would this be instantly shown in the other persons account?

if you get there bank acc details just ask your bank to do acc transfer on faster payments system they should get it in about 2 hours but useually instant

Barclays will not have access to Halifax's systems, and vice versa. That means you can't just give them your debit card. What you could do is withdraw £1000 from Halifax and walk it over to barclays and pay it in there.

Get this person's sort code and account number. You can either then transfer it from the Halifax account or withdraw it and walk it to Barclays and pay it in. It will be available instantly as cash, Halifax should go by faster payments and be available at most within a few hours.
