I changed my home insurance company last year and they were doing an offer of 3 months free premiums, total cost was £276, this was for home and contents, accidental damage etc
Got renewal a few days ago and has went from £276 to £435  I rnag and they said about the 3 months discount which I had forgotten and their premiums have also risen by over 25%
Now I have been looking around and comparing like for like and cannot believe the difference in premiums. lowest I got was £212 and higest apart from my own company is £407. WHY ?????????????? a £ or two I woudl understand but almost £200 difference? Anyone else had a big rise in premium this year ?

erm...New Customers Discounts0

Yes, until the Insurers stop doing it.
The new customer discounts are subsidised by the people who do not shop around0 -
Try a comparison website!
I had quotes from £105 to £600!!!
I am with Legal & General. £105 per year.0 -

Have a look at the cash back sites as you may be able to get some cashback as well.
Nigella you have picked a good company for your cover0 -

thanks will look through cash back as well, just checked L&G and looking over £400 , I could cut it down by taking off accidental damage etc but with 6 children not a good idea lolTOTAL 44 weeks lose. 6st 9.5lb :T0 -
try quidco.co.uk, there are a few others and they are a few threads on MSE from people talking about their cash back successes0

I had trouble with "Confused.com" as I had a quote and paid for £65 annual premium with Birmingham Midshires BUT some information was missing when it was carried across and BM wanted more ££ so I cancelled BM. (When I complained BM should have honoured it)
But I am still happy @ 8.72 month!!
"Tesco" sometimes does 1/2 price deals xtra clubcard points.
Maybe year 2 I will have to switch!0
