Hi All
My Husband has been made redundant and is age 61 he has been told he can claim JSA or go onto pension credit .
He has a comp pension but doesnt want to take it until 65 as this is when his state pension is due he will receive the basic gov redundancy package plus 12 weeks pay in lieu of notice. I am also 61 and have state pension in my own right
Thanks

Sorry what is your question?0

Sorry ,my question is can he claim JSA or pension credit and not be forced to take his company pension by the DWP
Sorry for being a bit vague0 -
That's OK, I only wish I could answer it for you now, my only suggestion is to perhaps visit your local CAB to see what they advise, I have no idea on what DWP can do, it seems harsh to force him to claim his pension but that doesnt mean its wrong necessarily. With JSA he does actually have to be seeking work though, is he wanting to do that? Regardless of whether he feels he will get a job or not, if he is on JSA he will have to sign on fortnightly and show what efforts he has been making to secure a new role.
Sorry am not too much help0 -
