Cousin being evicted

Don't know if this is the right board, if it isn't please move it...
I'm writing this as I'm really worried about my cousin. I recently spoke to her and their money worries are worse than ever...
Basically, she lives with her husband and 3yr old son. Her husband does shift work for a well known food company, as much as the hourly rate is good, the hours he has been given are terrible. One week he's working 6 hours, another he's working 60, but it's mostly 6 because of the recession.
Because of this they've got into arrears with their rent, and they're being evicted by the end of the month. I don't live near enough to help, and apparently, there's no where she could go within the friend and family network til things are sorted.
Because the husband has a (so-called) job and they still have a roof over their heads (but not for long) the council isn't interested in helping. She claims tax credits, but thats all they're entitled to housing benefit apparently. She used to be seen as disabled because of an accident that happened years ago, but since then, because she can look after a child full time, she's apparently no longer disabled.
I'm really worried about her, I'm basically looking for information on people or organisations that she could ring that might be able to help her situation. They are a family that prefer to not be on benefits, so him just jacking in his job is not an option. They know that this would get them money, but they'd rather have a different way out.
At the moment, their eviction is being taken through the courts (i don't know why) and they will no longer have a place to live by the end of the month.
Any useful information would be gladly recieved and passed on to my cousin.
Thank you

She needs to ring Shelter, sooner rather than later 0808 800 4444.
If she is being evicted for rent arrears then the council may have no obligation to house them, she may get temporary housing for 28 days but she needs some urgent advice.....get her to ring them tomorrow. My home is usually the House Buying, Renting and Selling Forum where I can be found trying to (sometimes unsucessfully) prove that not all Estate Agents are crooks. With 20 years experience of Sales/Lettings and having bought and sold many of my own properties I've usually got something to sayIgnore......check!0 -
