Working on the assumption that your son is not a trader or can be deemed to be a trader on Ebay and the car was as described then the buyer is on a hiding to nothing.

    caveat emptor, buyer beware

This happened to someone I know, the person who bought the car has no leg to stand on whatso ever, the car was tested by them and they would have seen if anything was wrong with when they drove it.
Ask them to supply a proper report on the "damage" they seem to have found, and also they can not return a car if it has been modified.
Tell them to FO lol xx

You can return it if the seller has a returns policy as part of the listing. (If it's the same listing as the other post)
Now the arguement will be if the car was as described, so it won't be hard to prove either way. It either is or isn't, and a garage can certify that.
(Less any compensation if she has made the car worse by repainting it)

My son has just posted a reply on the buyers thread in the motoring & public transport resource bar! Apparently the wings have been machine polished , not resprayed and she paid £915. Apologies!

What a coincidence, I know MSE has a lot of users but what are the chances of the two opposing parties both posting for advice.

I hope it works out ammicably
