Fitted Double Oven

Our old Neff fitted double electric oven seems to be on it's last legs and I am shopping around for a replacement.

We went to John Lewis to have a look around and the salesman was very pro Neff ovens. In particular he spoke highly of them being triple glazed, the doors being sealed units (top and bottom) so no steam or grease gets trapped between panes of glass and some of the more snazy Neff ovens have self cleaning mechanisms (they get very very hot and burn the fatty deposits off the ceramic liners apparently).

I just wondered what other people's experiences had been either with Neff or other brands they would recommend or suggest I avoid.

Many thanks

    Go onto the Which? website.

Take out a introductory subscription for £ 1.00.

They have a list of 'Best Buys' for this and many other things.
  • We have a Neff U1644 and it's great (not cheap but we got £250 off by shopping around and using Dixon's offer codes).

Whatever oven you get look out for telescopic shelf rails, you don't know you really need them until you have them!

I waited a long time to buy my Neff and ended up going to the Ideal Home Show 7 years ago when I first bought this house with the prime aim of looking at the newest models on the market and had saved to buy a decent model.

I was really impressed with the U1661N Neff range and spent almost £1000 on the double oven and hob.

Unfortunately, I have had a dreadful time with them both.

I have had a replacement oven as the one that was delivered had a faulty thermostat which resulted in the inside burning and being ruined!

I have since had replacement thermostats in both ovens, replacement elements twice in both the main and small ovens and a replacement door on the main oven. The hob has also had the engineer out a couple of times (can't remember what the problems were in the end).

Having said that, our regular Neff engineer (nice man!) said we have been exceptionally unlucky with our kit.

We have extended the warranty over and over again.

I would go for another make such as De Deitrich next time.
:D Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!:D

Get yourself down to the local B&Q,

Ours has ex-display ovens / hob / double ovens all at stupid prices.

Picked up a normal hotpoint oven, new, ex display £299 on the shelf for £129.

You really can't beat Neff for a replacement double oven. They are just about to launch a new range so you could wait for the latest models or you could find an old model at a good price somewhere. I know Neff have some deals for certain retailers on old models.
  • Just repaired / replaced the element to next doors lower oven, they sent a lower element for the upper oven cavity instead of the lower oven element. Drilled out all the supporting screws after two visits and finding some new screws as the agents did not have any. You can get better than a NEFF, nuff said

Any chance of suggesting who is better than Neff?

    Thanks
