Landlord trying urgently to contact us direct

If you've got payments leaving your account going to the agents then it's between him and the agent.
zzzLazyDaisy's letter looks fine to me.0 -

* We have been constantly redirecting letters for him to the agent
* He has left a phone number and address in Pakistan
* He stated in the letter he would call us back after our initial call to him
* He stated that he believes that we are paying the rent but the agent isn’t passing it on to him in Pakistan
I guess the issue here is what would you do from here ?
It strikes me that, at this point, all your LL is doing is to be 100% sure that you have made all your payments, in which case the agent should be his next port of call.
I would write/email to LL to reassure him that all rental payments are paid and furnish him a copy of a rent history statement that you are going to get from agent. I would have expected your agent to use software and therefore should be able to email a copy to you or just go in and get as statements can be printed off there and then. After that, let the LL and agent sort it out, it is not your problem.
Note - be concerned if agent does not furnish a copy of statement and if agent has not been passing on rent to LL then it suggests that agent is going through financial problems and using client funds as cash flow.

This may be important. In the paperwork you have had what address were you given to "serve notices on" Landlord.. given LL is in Pakistan...
My understanding is that
a) If you weren't given an address you can't be forced to pay rent (!)
b) Address must be in England & Wales.. (I am aware of the issue as I live in Scotland - not England & Wales - but rent a house in England).
I believe this is all to do with " section 48 of the Landlord and Tenant Act 1987; namely, not giving an address in England and Wales for the service of documents on the Landlord "

Hope that helps...

To reiterate what others have said previously, if you have paid and have proof then your ok.
The dispute between the landlord and the agent is the landlord's problem.
Make sure you keep all copies of any communication and your proof of payments. I would certainly contact the landlord expressing your regret but his relationship with his agent is for him to sort out.
If he wants you to pay to another account I would want a letter from him and the agent confirming this, I would also want the UK address for the landlord.
If you are still not happy with how things are working out, give notice and move. You didn't mention but is your deposit with TDS.
Edit - Whatever you do do not send copies of your bank statements to anyone, do not let anyone copy your bank statements. This is just in case things are not on the up and up as identity theft is not something you want to experience.0 -
Thanks for all your replies. We are going to email the landlord
Many thanks0 -
i would be worried that the agent will do one. how much deposit did you give? how many months in advance do you pay? how long have you left in your current contract?
if you are happy where you are, get the landlord to phone you up and get something sorted direct. you may get it cheaper and he knows you are ok as you have been there 50 weeks with no probs.
i would be looking to move otherwise and get my deposit money back before the agents take it and do one.what is the plural of moose?

If you would rather write to your landlord in Pakistan, then send a request to the agents for his address. They are legally obliged to provide it.0
