Leather suite in a conservatory

I am looking for a suite for in my conservatory, and would like a leather one, but our conservatory faces South, has the sun all day and gets very hot.
Would the heat / sun damage a leather suite ?

Yes! The heat will make the leather dry out and crack, and the sunlight will fade the colours. Here I go again on my own....0

Leather would not last very long in a conservatory, not even in a summer like we had last year.I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0

Thanks, you have just confirmed what I thought. I know any suite will fade in there, but at least a fabric one won't crack. You're only young once, but you can be immature forever0

ariba, sweetheart, were you being sarcastic?
But seriously, would it be ok if there was a blind keeping out the direct sunlight? And a dehumidifier. Asking cos we're buying somewhere with a conservatory, and we were hoping to put the 'spare' leather settee in there. I guess it's that or freecycle it, so it's not such a big deal, but comfy seats were part of the attraction of the place.Mortgage started on 22.5.09 : £129,600Overpayments to date: £3000June grocery challenge: 400/6000 -

Make sure that you get the correct type of leather- remember cows spend all day in the sun as well !0 -
We have had a mocha colour leather suite in our south facing conservatory for the last three years and it hasn't faded or cracked, it looks as good as new.
The cat likes to sleep on it all year round. and it is well used by the kids.
I wipe it with a damp cloth and apply leather balm twice a year like I do with our leather suite in the lounge.
It wasn't a particularly expensive one either.0 -
Ok, that settles it, I'm back on leather ... I think :rotfl:
I used to be indecisive, but now I just can't make my mind up

Coloured leather is just sprayed on and will crack and peel.0

I would be interested to know if the negative comments are from actual experience.
Not all leathers have a sprayed on finish, ours are dyed.
I went for leather because it is easy to clean, and when polished looks as good as new.
Maybe my kids lounge on it all summer so it doesn't get the chance to fade, lol0 -
I am sat typing this in my conservatory on my leather recliner with my feet on my leather footstool. It is a two seater recliner and two reclining chairs with a wooden frame to allow air to circulate (ekornes stressless). I first had a cane suite, expensive and uncomfortable, I then had a very comfortable two seater suite but it looked too bulky and I replaced one of the chairs with (what I thought) a leather recliner. After about one year the sides and underarms were a different colour! It was leather faced and immitation underneath - cr*p.
So the moral of this tale is real leather is by far the best, it wipes down easy and in my case doesn't let dog and cat hairs stick.
