    Agree with leveller,

The walnut is lovely in kithens and better than oak or beach. I did one a few months ago. I would say oil it every 3 months. Durable and look the bizzo....;)

I'll try to post a couple of pics of the one I done tomorrow..

I have just invested in walnut, ex-display. It looked good on show. After working out final kitchen plans i am short a length. I looked up prices and was surprised how much the walnut is compared to others.

Either way it will have to last for me. (my stuff is e/walnut though).
  • Can anyone suggest a good online supplier? I've got some samples from Norfolk Oak but they're pricier than most. I do want quality though.

Try a local joinery, look for a smallish one, less overheads, even better if you can get a recommendation. With something you have to live with I would be a little wary of the internet, once its delivered its very difficult to send back at least if its a local workshop you can pop round.

I got a number of Oak worktops from http://www.real-wood-flooring.com/exotic-wood-worktops.html to use as breakfast bar back panels (cheaper than proper veneered panels!) and two mahogany worktops for our study.

Quality was great - to Oak didn't need sanding before oiling - and delivery was by their own transport. Prices were great too.
